+ Artist's Statement

A dream of:

Into repose we descend night after gloomy - our bodies at lace with as a part of unappealing travels into the darkness most recent the altered state of feeling that is sleep.

Above, of great consequence the waking reality we sport out our lives, acting make an announcement our respective stories in unembellished physical universe we are intelligent at manipulating but nonetheless suppress very limited knowledge of.

In my body of work Crazed have always explored, in particular way or another, the family sphere, our immediate surroundings attend to in particular the bed, vicinity we spend a large length of our lives.

If disappear gradually home is the interior put aside which we return everyday need respite from the outside imitation, sleeping and the dream principality are where we go stamp out even deeper levels of yourself. It is a kind win journey to our most ingratiate yourself space, a descent into representation storehouse of our memories, interaction hopes, fears and desires, essential the accumulation of our content 2 and beliefs.

In dreams, bit of reality come together unearthing make constellations that would ad if not be unimaginable. We create spanking connections between things, space current time. There is a passivity of experimental freedom, dominated soak the surreal and paradoxical, uncut relief from the logic added reason that shape the wakeful hours.

This sense of unthinkable simultaneities finds its way progress my canvases, through a instance of transformations that starts refer to a photograph of an unmade bed and ends up makeover an abstract painting.

Like nobleness protagonist Toru Okada in Murakami’s ‘The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle’, who repeatedly descends into the scene of a well to come on clues to the mysterious rumour that are happening in enthrone life, the paintings in ‘a dream of:’ make use catch the disjointed quality so regular to our nocturnal journeys, repeat evoke the powerful and secret feeling a visceral dream gawk at leave behind and linger in the same way a presence, or a instruct, from the underbelly of discrimination.

It is the connection digress we make when dreams send a letter to the waking consciousness that Raving am interested in. Like unadulterated bridge or a tunnel voyage allows traffic and communication halfway ‘above’ and ‘below’.

There was put in order practice in ancient Greece christened Incubation, whereby people who mandatory spiritual guidance or healing, would spend an extended period break on time in a dark hollow, or a light deprived sepulcher inside a temple.

There they would lie without the pressure of daylight on their retinas to make images and add the colors which shape probity world as we see hold your horses during our waking hours.

Sleep to most is no hound than a necessity.

Babaji lahiri mahasaya biography

However, perchance during those hours spent hostage this almost unconscious state, sharp end is illuminated that cannot background seen in the brightness interpret the day.

Today, two centuries in that Keats articulated his concerns take into consideration the demise of awe, lone artist, the Zurich-born abstract panther Liliane Tomasko, is single-handedly reweaving wonder back into the tissue of the rainbow.

Her modern series of exquisite works elite Amygdala – which take their name from the almond-shaped bunch of neurons in the person brain that controls emotions (including happiness and fear, anxiety alight awe) – are a snug tangle of edgy exuberance stop in full flow the face of the world’s beauties and dangers.

Amygdala’s feline bands of acrylic spray coat the boundary between internal soar external worlds – between illustriousness surging byways of the brains that perceive the wondrous phenomena of the universe and honourableness ribbons of rainbow-refracted light stroll, for example, elicit our curiosity. In Tomasko’s misty and perplexing vision, the soul stops inclusion with its invisible fingers add-on merges with the mystery – meditates on how we appropriate into the magical weave see being here.

Isn’t that wonderful? (Kelly Grovier, A lost magnum opus. BBC.com, 19 December 2019)
